History
CultureSense International, Inc. is a cross-cultural
training and consulting firm specializing in expatriate training,
repatriation training, USA culture training, cross-cultural
management and business training, diversity training, and
consulting. CultureSense International began as the "culture"
component of The Global Institute of Languages and Culture,Inc.
CultureSense International, Inc. became an independent
corporation in 1999.
Susan W. Herrera, M.Ed. is the co-founder and President
of CultureSense International, Inc., established in 1999.
She was the founder and President of The Global Institute
of Languages and Culture, Inc. for 12 years.
Ms. Herrera began her career as a foreign correspondent specializing
in Latin America. She obtained a Master's Degree in Education,
focusing on multicultural education. She has specialized in
the design and implementation of cross-cultural training and
language courses.
Ms. Herrera has developed, written, and directed hundreds
of cross-cultural programs, as well as customized language
programs for the corporate and public sector since 1976. Ms.
Herrera develops and conducts custom-designed expatriate cross-cultural
training in English and in Spanish for employees and families
being transferred throughout the world, and into the United
States. Ms. Herrera also provides cross-cultural consulting
for the corporate and public sector. Additionally, as a result
of being raised in Chile as an American expatriate, she can
personally relate to the expatriate experience and its effects
on employees and families.
Ms. Herrera has traveled extensively worldwide, and has studied
many world cultures and languages.
Jorge M. Herrera, DBA is co-founder and CEO of CultureSense
International and served as Vice-President of The Global Institute
of Languages and Culture, Inc. for 12 years. Dr. Herrera served
as Assistant Director and Professor for the Undergraduate
Business Department at Nova Southeastern University from 1987
until the year 2000.
Dr. Herrera began his career in the corporate world concentrating
on retail sales and marketing. His interest in business and
education propelled him to a successful career in academia
both as a professor of business and economics, as well as
in academic administration.
Dr. Herrera conducts custom-designed cross-cultural training
programs for managers and employees in the areas of international
management, human resources, marketing, managing diversity,
and others. In addition, he conducts corporate research, and
provides individual consulting in the area of multicultural
and cross-cultural management. He conducts the training in
English and Spanish. A native of Mexico, Dr. Herrera can personally
relate to living in a new culture, learning the language and
making a successful cross-cultural adaptation.
Dr. Herrera has been an active member of the Academy of Management
since 1992. He currently serves as the Chair of the Management
History Division.
Dr. Herrera has traveled extensively throughout the world,
and has studied many cultures and languages.
